February 2021 aideM Media Minute

How’s it going? It’s Derek Lau with the February, 2021, aideM Media Minute.

With February being Black History Month, we wanted to give you an update on our Giving Black Project that we’re doing, about African-American Leadership & Entrepreneurship.

We have a teaser update from Derek Gaskins that we shot in Boston, Massachusetts and we are going to be shooting some more episodes on the West Coast and in Georgia coming up. So stay tuned and check that out.

And you’ve probably noticed, unless you’ve been living under a rock, we’ve had a lot of snow this month. So on a personal note, I just wanna share a video about me and the kids out snowboarding. At Roundtop, I took Matthew and Alex, for lessons at Roundtop, and I took Olivia and Liam on an adventure, up to Blue Mountain. So I hope you enjoy that video

And to let you know what’s been going on, business-wise at aideM Media, in this type of business climate you always have to change and learn new things. So we’ve pivoted and we’ve picked up some new skills. One of the new things that we learned how to do this year is FPV Drone Flying. So we can fly drones indoors, and we wear the goggles, and it’s a first person point of view. We can shoot indoors, we can shoot offices and things like that. And we’re actually gonna be going out to a drone conference in Ohio to learn how to improve our skills and get even better with FPV Drone Flying.

The other thing we started doing a lot more of, is live streaming. We did a couple live streaming concerts, and we’ve done streaming of events. With people not being able to gather in person, they still need to get together somehow, and communicate as a company, and still find ways to share events. So there’s actually an interview, that we did with Joy Dickson from the High Companies, on how we were able to help High with one of their events through live streaming.

So with all that’s going on in the world, and everything that’s going on in people’s personal lives, and business and things like that, I just wanna give you an update, let you know what we’re up to at aideM Media, we’ve got our Giving Black documentary program, coming out again. Just wanted to give you a personal family update on how my family has been enjoying this winter weather. And also just wanted to give you some positive inspiring news on ways that we’ve been improving our skills at aideM Media, and bringing new and improved services, to our customers.

So if you know anybody that might be interested to learn more about video production or what we’ve been doing aideM Media, feel free to share this with them. And if you haven’t already, hit the Subscribe button, so you can stay up to date with what we got going on at aideM Media.

And again, I just wanted to say, thank you. I appreciate you for subscribing to our email list, and checking out our videos, and just staying in tune, and staying on the same wavelength of what we got going on here at aideM Media.

We’ve got some really big things going on in March. So we’ll get a video out to you, and let you know what’s going on. Hopefully it starts to warm up, and the snow goes away, and we can start to enjoy spring. But again, thank you for watching and we’ll see you in March.

Take care.

October 2020 aideM Media Minute

Happy fall. It’s Derek Lau with the October 2020 aideM Media Minute. As you can see, there are some things changing out here. The leaves are changing, I got my fall sweater on and my pumpkin latte, but that’s not all that’s changing. The way people are doing business is changing and the way we’re doing videos is definitely changing.

We’ve done two new types of videos recently that we haven’t really done a lot of in the past. One of those is an FPV drone-style video that we partnered with Nick Lang Media on, for the Power Packs nonprofit organization. The difference between FPV style video and a regular drone video is the pilot actually wears goggles and they fly a smaller drone at a faster speed inside a building, instead of your typical drone shots are outside of a building. The other style video that we did recently that was new for us was a 360 tour video of the High Steel factory out in Greenfield. These types of videos can be watched with a VR headset or they can be watched on your cell phone when you twist the screen around. Check them out. They’re pretty cool and they’re fun and different.

The other new thing that we’ve had an opportunity to do a lot of this year was virtual galas. We work with a lot of nonprofit organizations on their galas in the past and their videos that play up on the screen. This year, with limitations on crowd sizes and things like that, we’ve helped a lot of companies tell their stories with video and help raise money for their nonprofit organizations through virtual galas. There’s a couple of examples of ones that we’ve done for The Denver House and REAL Life Community Services, as well as Tabor, and we have a couple more in the pipeline that we’re working on in the future.

Speaking of nonprofit organizations, Lancaster has the Extraordinary Give coming up in November. We’ve already started working on a couple of videos for nonprofit organizations. If you know a nonprofit organization that is looking to gain volunteers or gain support during the Extra Give, we’d be glad to help them out. Again, that’s some of the new things we’ve been doing at aideM Media. There’s been a lot of changes going on. I hope your business is changing and your business is surviving and doing well. I look forward to seeing you in November. Take care.

ORIGINAL GENEROSITY POST FROM 2019

There are a lot of good deeds happening in this town!!! Here are a few to inspire you or someone you know.

Lancaster PA is lucky enough to have one of the highest amount of non-profit organizations per capita, donate the most per capita income and it shows. We have been inspired by events like the Extraordinary Give, where year after year we have broken records and raised millions for our community. A lot of our clients give back with their time and money, we have taken notes and given our best to chip in and help out as well. We aren’t a huge company that can just write a check, so the way we give back is through videos that help non-profits attract volunteers and collect donations. Hopefully this video will warm your heart and inspire you or someone you share it with to give back as well!

Here is one more in depth testimonial from Joell Ketcham, who organizes the local “Night To Shine” in partnership with the Tim Tebow Foundation. We really appreciate her coming into the studio to share her message of hope and inspiration for those with special needs in our community.
If you want to see an individual example of a video we created for one of the awesome non-profits we partnered with, here is a great example! We had a lot of fun working with Joell, Lancaster Night To Shine and the Tim Tebow foundation on this project!!!

Thanks again for checking out our Video Newsletter! If you know someone who needs more information on video – feel free to share, we will be glad to see if we can help them out!!! We will see you soon with our next company value – Passion just in time for Vday 🙂 Thanks! The aideM Media Crew

Facebook Video Upload Tips

FACEBOOK VIDEO UPLOAD TIPS

If you would have come to me in the past – and asked me about putting video on your Facebook page – I would have recommended that you uploaded your video to YouTube, and embedded that video into one of your Facebook posts – and that would have been it. Nowadays things have changed a bit with uploading video to Facebook. There are new algorithms, patterns and practices to make sure your video gets the most views, likes, comments and shares on Facebook ! Here are some simple tips to get started :

1. Upload videos to Facebook. -Facebook videos get better traction than YouTube links.

2. Don’t copy and paste from YouTube. -Use Facebook directly.

3. Catch user’s attention. – The videos automatically play when a user scrolls past. -Big opening .

4. Draw them in with text after an exciting first few seconds to get their attention and interest. -Without audio, text will be needed to draw people in.

Videos & Billboards: A Powerful Combo !

Videos and Billboards: A Powerful Combo

By

Peter Swarr

At first glance, you may not think that videos and billboards complement each other particularly well. A video can be watched anytime and anywhere, while a billboard can only be seen while driving along a specific stretch of highway. Videos also consist of thousands of individual images that build on and play off of each other, whereas a billboard presents a single, constant image to the viewer which will remain the same no matter if it is seen one or one hundred times. Yet incorporating both billboards and video into your marketing campaign can provide greater returns than simply using one or the other.

Advertising-conscious business owners have long known the benefits of a good billboard. Not only does a billboard efficiently pitch your business to potential customers, but those who frequently pass it – i.e. the local audience that needs to see your message the most – will receive the pitch over and over until it’s firmly ingrained in their mind. Repeatedly seeing a billboard will also allow them to make mental notes of your key information (address, phone number, etc), which they may not have been able to recall upon first glance. A good billboard also should feature a one-sentence pitch, short and to the point, without any extraneous information to cloud your audience’s recall.
Fine, you may say, I already know what a billboard can do for me. Why should I use video alongside it? Well, unlike billboards, video allows you to really tell your business’ story and communicate your message gradually, rather than in a single image meant to be seen for a matter of seconds. With video, you can go beyond that one-sentence pitch and include all the information that you want. Video also, being composed of movement, naturally holds the viewer’s attention and stimulates their senses in a way that traditional advertising avenues such as billboards never can.
By creating complementary advertising campaigns for billboards and videos, you will strengthen your message’s impact twofold. When potential customers who’ve seen your billboard watch your video, they will be reminded of the billboard’s key information, strengthening their recall of it and moving it up on their internal prominence scale. Likewise, when they see your billboard again, it will remind them of your video’s in-depth message and make them want to re-watch it to get a better sense of your company’s message.

Together, billboards and videos can work wonders for your business. Let us help you enhance your traditional billboard ad with a hip, modern video and get you on your way to boosting your image, drawing in new customers and improving your local presence for years to come.
